Introduction

Tatajuba is an exotic hardwood with a light yellow colour that quickly darkens to a brown hue when exposed to sunlight, often featuring a golden sheen. The wood is rich in tannins and natural oils.

Thanks to its high silica content, Tatajuba naturally falls into Use Class 5, making it suitable for even marine environments and saltwater. At the same time, it is highly resistant to fungi and termites.

Exceptional quality and durability

Tatajuba is a very heavy and hard exotic wood, ideal for outdoor use – from decking and walkways to demanding constructions exposed to moisture and heavy loads. Its beautiful colour transformation, from bright yellow to brown with a golden lustre, gives every deck a warm and natural appearance.

Tatajuba wood is not only visually appealing but also capable of withstanding heavy foot traffic and harsh weather conditions. Thanks to its density and natural extractives, it is exceptionally resistant to fungi, termites, and other pests. Even without chemical treatment, it offers long service life and stability, making it an excellent choice for anyone seeking a combination of aesthetics, strength, and durability.

Benefits of Tatajuba for decking

  • Extremely durable (Natural durability Class 1) – Rated as highly durable against fungi, with good resistance to insect attacks.
  • Natural resistance in extreme conditions (Use Class 5) – Thanks to its high silica content, Tatajuba qualifies for Use Class 5, making it suitable for marine and saltwater environments.
  • Very high hardness (Janka ~7,650 N) – Belongs to the hard hardwoods, offering excellent resistance to mechanical wear and heavy loads.
  • Cost-effective alternative to more expensive hardwoods – Compared to Ipe, Cumaru, or Teak, Tatajuba offers durability at a more affordable price.
  • Impressive golden appearance – When freshly cut, Tatajuba has a bright yellow to golden lustre that matures into warm brown tones, creating a striking and elegant surface.
