Western Red Cedar Decking
Western red cedar belongs to the species of Thuja that is an evergreen coniferous tree native to western North America. The trunks can grow to a height without knots of 25 meters and Trees can reach up to 1,000 years. Western red Cedarwood is quite resistant to cold. Slow-grown cedar wood of Western Red Cedar is very light and offers high stability and durability. Its uniform fine-grained structure allows excellent workability and is therefore used for wooden facades, decking and sauna usage. It is highly durable in nature and the color shade varies from light reddish to brown. The western red cedar decking offers very high resistance to moisture and decay. The timber has tight and straight grains consisting of very few knots that result in improved dimensional stability. It is usually lightweight and has a very soft texture. Western red cedar has a property of being glued down very easily and hence provides it excellent working properties. For the surface treatment of western red cedar decking, OSMO decking oil is highly recommended.
